The American Hangover
This past Sunday on December 4th, The Broadway AdvocacyCoalition, the recently formed organization that has collaborated with Columbia Law School to present a monthly series entitled “The Invitation” encouraging political and social change. The Invitation, unites activism and artistry for what they call “artivism” This month’s event was titled The American Hangover (first meeting post-election), which was hosted at Columbia University’s Altschul Auditorium.
The event had phenomenal entertainment industry staples in support of the cause. In attendance were Tony Award winner Ben Vereen, Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, Tony nominee Condola Rashad, and Tony-winning composer Jeanine Tesori.
The results of the election has caused numerous ripples in the millennial community, leaving many questioning the direction of our country these next four years. The American Hangover utilized performances and dialogue to encourage, educate, and empower the millennial community on how to remain optimistic about the elected 2016 Administration.
